Thank you, Writer, for sharing the love of my rare pairs!
AO3: ChokolatteJedi
Things I love, in general:
- Tropes: aliens made us do it, cooking, dress uniforms/suiting up, glasses (and/or glasses!kink), goddesses/gods, goth or punk AUs
- Archetypes: antisocial geniuses, boys in eyeliner, chaotic neutral or similar characters, double agents, found families, geeks and geekery, spies, spunky chicks, team-as-family, tomboys, tough-on-the-outside bishies, tricks and tricksters
- Animals: animal sidekicks/pets, dragons, kitties, being adopted by the pet/familiar in question, other mythological creatures
- Dark: angst, apocalypses, bittersweet endings, blood, dark themes, death, dub-con, dystopias, evil cliffhanger endings, hurt/comfort, illness, insanity, unhappy endings, whump
- Light: comedy, fluff, happy endings, hijinks, shenanigans, shiny things, snark, sneaking, sparkly things, squee
- Queers: bi- or pansexuality, drag queens, established pairs bringing in a mutual third, OT3s, rainbow representation in all forms
- Relationships: gen, femslash, slash, het, multi
- Style: drabbles, drabble series, episoliary, IF, meta, ploty things, random little life/death snippets, worldbuilding
Things I DNW, in general:
- Subjects: animal cruelty, bashing requested characters (though they can be a general part of the "the world" in "us against the world"), dentistry (seriously, no teeth pulling, dentist visits, those drill noises, none of it! I realize that Hermione's parents are dentists, and that's fine, just don't talk about their jobs in detail, please), infidelity
- Kink: coprophilia/watersports/focus on bodily waste, explicit sex scenes/pwp, non-con
- Real Life: COVID, current events, glorified gay bashing(wizards don't approve of queerness/poly leading to "us against the world" is fine, as long as the homophobes don't win), politics (HP political/societal worldbuilding and intrigue is great as long as it doesn't mirror the US dumpster fire I'm living in)
- Style: 2nd Person POV, reader insert
HP Rare Pair General likes:
- Handwaving the war so everyone lives
- Time-travel fix its for any part of the war or even all of Harry's years at Hogwarts/the Dursleys
- Requested characters joining the dark side together or forming their own side against Dumbles
- Domestic fluffy times with animals/plants/wheezes, cuddling, holidays/seasonal
- Established Relationships
- Getting Together fics (especially when Harry is too oblivious/messed up by the Dursleys/other to realize he's being pursued)
- Someone realizing what a bad home Privet Drive is and rescuing Harry for good
- Snarky Harry
- Soulmates, either of the "everyone finds their mate by their matching mark" variety, or the "this is so rare!" variety or anywhere in between. Matching marks pre- or post- bond, mental connections, magical connections, and all the other related tropes are welcome.
- H/C and whump
- Creature inheritance, especially if it gives someone wings. Can also include the soulmate variants
- Manipulative and/or evil Dumbledore is great, though I'm also down for 'oblivious to human nature re: the Dursleys and all the bullying at Hogwarts'
General note about ages: I'm fine with hogwarts age/hogwarts age, and also hogwarts age(14+)/young adult. When wizards can live to be 150 years old, a ten year age difference at 130/140 is nothing. So 15/25 is fine here. Harry/Bill is the biggest gap I have, I believe, and that's 10 or 11 years. If they're going to be having sex, I'd prefer the younger partner to be at least 14.
Fred/George, Fred/Harry/George, Fred/Lee/George
I absolutely love the twins, and love the humor and acceptance they bring to Harry's life. They and Lee are also always together, and it seems natural for that to evolve into a relationship. The twins themselves have a very 'us against the world' feel, as they aren't really understood or accepted by most of their family, and that could extend to a relationship. I love the trope that their doublespeak comes from telepathy, and the only Harry/Lee can tell them apart trope. Similarly, for just Fred/George, having Lee and/or Harry be the only one(s) they can confide in about their relationship, because he accepts them as they are. I'd also love anything of them helping Harry cope with the horrible hand he's been dealt, anything about making or testing wheezes, any hijinks with Lee during their Hogwarts years, anything of them helping/hiding Harry and/or Lee during the war, and anything set in WWW after the war.
Harry/Charlie, Harry/Bill, Harry/Tonks
Harry has such rotten luck with adults, between the Dursleys, Dumbledore letting him get into all kinds of danger at Hogwarts, Snape terrorizing him, McGonnagall basically ignoring him, Sirius being locked up/dead, etc. I just really want someone adultish (but not too old) to help him. I can see Harry meeting Charlie/Bill at the Burrow and falling for him, or once he meets Tonks through the order. I wouldn't mind Hogwarts age underage, especially with Harry as the one pushing for it, but feel free to age him up as well. I'd love it if they were able to permanently rescue him from the Dursleys, or go to bat for him during the TWT/Umbitch/War. Time Travel fix-it is also an excellent way to rescue him and meanwhile handwave the underage issue, if you're so inclined. I'm also a sucker for the de-aging trope, with or without adult memories, so feel free to use that to close the age gap. For prompts post-Hogwarts, perhaps Tonks is Harry's training auror? Maybe he goes to work at the dragon preserve? Perhaps Bill is helping Harry at the bank, or is training him there (the way he did with Fleur in canon)? Fluffy domestic established couple missing scenes are also great, as is (non ewe) kid fic.
Harry/Neville, Harry/Neville/Luna, Harry/Neville/Herm, Harry/Luna/Herm
My poor babies! Harry and Neville share this tragic past, of Dumbledore and Voldemort destroying their parents and leaving them to grow up in less than ideal circumstances (Augusta was no Dursley, but anyone who lets her brother nearly kill her grandson (twice!) trying to get the magic out of him is no saint). Then they both go through this shit at Hogwarts, with bullying to varying degrees. I just want them to be happy. Ideally together. Similarly, Luna has a nearly identical tragic backstory+bullying and also just needs someone to love her. I'm a sucker for the "stronger together" trope and also the "willing to stand up for their partner, just not themselves" trope here. I'd love to see Harry and/or Nev going off on the Ravenclaws, or Luna being unexpectedly BAMF in the boy's defense.
Re: Hermione, I see her as someone who can be strong for the others, and bring an outside perspective. Luna and Neville both grew up in the wizarding world, but she's an outsider, like Harry (who, while isn't a muggle*born*, is muggle*raised*). If she can learn to curb her rougher edges (like disbelieving in Luna's creatures out of hand, or putting too much stock in authority figures), then she's a great complement to Harry and the other two. I love the trope of Neville being the one person Hermione hung out around at the beginning of first year, before Harry noticed her. Also feel free to handwave away Ron and have a different golden trio. [Ron and/or Ginny bashing is A-ok, but feel free to also just ignore them] Soulmate bonds are also great for these groupings, as are time-travel fix-its. Feel free to set them during any year at Hogwarts, pre-Hogwarts (if time traveling or AUing), or post-war. I'm also a sucker for the Founders' heirs trope, so feel free to play with that for any/all of this gang. Hermione being from a lost squib line is also A+.
Final Note:
I realize that I mostly gave really detailed prompts, but please believe that I'm also totally happy with little slice of life moments, missing scenes, domestic fluff, domestic angst, and all kinds of h/c.
